Brian Mundubile, the presidential candidate for the NRPUP party, expressed a clear dedication to reviving the importance and honor of traditional leaders within the governance framework.
Speaking at a huge rally in Serenje, he said that upon forming government, they intend to reinstate the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs.
This step, he explained, would enable chiefs to regain the recognition and respect they deserve.
Mundubile emphasized that traditional leaders should not be inconvenienced by political activities that require them to leave their communities.
Instead, he argued, they should be respected figures who are visited at their palaces.
According to him, chiefs hold a critical role as custodians of culture and heritage; their leadership makes them enduring figures regardless of changes in government.
Furthermore, he assured that his administration would prioritize protecting and respecting the institution of traditional leadership.
He addressed the chiefs directly, calling them ‘our parents’ and acknowledging that they deserve honor, dignity, and respect for their role and status.
