The future is no longer what it used to be, says Gary

MAZABUKA Central independent parliamentary candidate Gary Nkombo says he never anticipated that events would unfold the way they have.

Commenting on his arrest yesterday, Nkombo confirmed that he has been charged with two counts of assault.

Meanwhile, Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo says in a statement that two men reported Nkombo to the police following an incident at Mazabuka Civic Centre on the day the former lawmaker was filing his nomination papers before the Electoral Commission of Zambia—ECZ.

According to Namalongo, the complainants are Vincent Lilanda and Bilden Shaloba.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his arrest, Nkombo reflected on the situation, saying: “If I knew then what I know now, I am sure I would have behaved differently. I personally did not expect the future to turn out like this. From where I stand, the future is no longer what it used to be.”
