THE DESPERATION OF THE UPND IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL—STAGING ENDORSEMENTS AT TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES?

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Traditional ceremonies are sacred cultural events, meant to unite people, preserve heritage, and celebrate traditions. However, under the increasingly desperate rule of the UPND, these once-honored gatherings have been hijacked and turned into political circus shows, where self-serving politicians trample over cultural values to advance their failing agenda.

The 2025 Nc’wala Ceremony was a clear and shameless example. Instead of being a celebration of Ngoni culture, it was converted into an embarrassing UPND rally, where the spotlight was on Hakainde Hichilema rather than Nkhosi Yama Nkhosi!

WHY HAS THE UPND TURNED TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES INTO POLITICAL ENDORSEMENT RALLIES?

Look at what truly characterized this year’s Nc’wala Ceremony:

President Hichilema overshadowed the entire event, making it feel more like a campaign rally than a cultural festival.

Endorsements were staged and orchestrated, as if the Nc’wala Ceremony was UPND’s official launch for 2026.

Speeches were dominated by UPND praise-singers, drowning out the very essence of Ngoni traditions, values, and identity.

THIS IS WRONG!

Traditional ceremonies are for all Zambians, regardless of tribe or political affiliation. They must remain neutral, so that all people feel welcome, proud, and represented—not hijacked and turned into partisan campaigns for a failing government.

HH BEING ENDORSED BY POLITICAL REJECTS? SERIOUSLY?

Even more laughable is the type of people endorsing HH—a group of political rejects, opportunists, and defectors who have lost credibility even in their own communities.

Some of these so-called supporters, who happen to be MPs from the PF, were in Petauke and other areas, trying to sell lies, but the people rejected them. Now, they run to traditional ceremonies to stage endorsements, desperately hoping to revive their political careers by showering fake praises on HH.

But let’s be honest with ourselves:

If UPND was truly delivering, why would they need to stage endorsements at cultural events?

If HH had truly won the hearts of Zambians, wouldn’t people naturally support him without being manipulated?

If UPND had truly performed, wouldn’t his achievements speak louder than these desperate tactics?

The truth is clear—this stinks of desperation. They know Zambians are fed up, they know they are losing ground, and now they grasp at anything to stay afloat.

But Zambians are not fools!

KEEP POLITICS OUT OF OUR TRADITIONS!

We cannot and will not allow our sacred cultural events to be turned into political battlegrounds. The Ngoni, Bemba, Lozi, Tonga, Lunda, and all ethnic groups must defend their heritage from being used as campaign tools for failed politicians.

The Nc’wala Ceremony should be about the Ngoni people, not HH.

The Kuomboka Ceremony should be about Lozi culture, not UPND politics.

The Mutomboko Ceremony should be about Lunda traditions, not cheap political endorsements.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

TO ALL ZAMBIANS:

Reject politicians who manipulate our traditions for their own selfish interests.

Do not be deceived by these staged endorsements that mean nothing.

Demand real leadership—not a government that hides behind traditional events to push its agenda.

The UPND must stop its desperation and leave our traditions alone!

Zambia belongs to all of us—not just to one party!

2026 IS COMING—ZAMBIANS WILL NOT FORGET!
