TEACHER DENIES POISONING GOATS IN MONZE

A teacher at Mutama Primary School in Mwanamoomba Village of Monze District, Triza Sibulwakabi, has dismissed reports that she deliberately poisoned goats belonging to local farmers.

Speaking to Byta FM, Sibulwakabi said she did not intentionally poison the animals but had only sprayed pesticides in her backyard garden to control pests.

She explains that after spraying the garden, she informed one of the farmers whose livestock frequently graze near her property.

However, goats belonging to another farmer later entered the garden and fed on the treated vegetation.

Sibulwakabi says it is not true that she poisoned the goats, stressing that she only admitted to spraying her garden and not to deliberately harming the animals as earlier reported.

Sibulwakabi adds that her intention was solely to eliminate pests affecting her crops and that the incident was unfortunate.

The teacher further explained that she took precautionary measures by notifying a nearby livestock owner after spraying the garden, but the affected goats belonged to another farmer who had not been informed.

Police are yet to issue an official statement about the incident.
