SUSPECTED GANG LEADER “VIPER” ARRESTED IN LUSAKA

A suspected gang leader in Garden House Compound of Lusaka, Joseph Kabanshi, aged 24, popularly known as “VIPER,” has been arrested by police.

Kabanshi and his colleagues are reported to have been terrorizing the community and had been on the police wanted list for multiple serious crimes, including murder and aggravated robbery.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, stated that the suspect was apprehended on 24th October 2024, around 17:00 hours, following a successful operation.

Chilabi explained that between July 2023 and October 2024, Kabanshi, acting with others unknown, allegedly assembled in large numbers while armed with various offensive weapons, such as machetes.

The group is accused of attacking innocent people, damaging property, including motor vehicles, and stealing valuable electronic items like mobile phones and cash.

Chilabi noted that the gang has reportedly been active in areas including Kanyama West, Mutanda Bantu, Mbasela, Kanono, Garden House, Makeni Villa, Yellow Shop, and Shalom area.
