SUICIDE – MAN THROWS HIMSELF ONTO A MOVING TRUCK AFTER STEALING LIVESTOCK

A 40-year-old man of Kalomo District has committed suicide by way of throwing himself onto an oncoming Volvo Truck after he was cited for allegedly stealing livestock belonging to his wife.

The incident was reported to Police on 2nd February, 2024 around 08:30 hours by wife to the deceased, Mable Muninde, 38, who identified the victim as Henry Siamaleke.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, explains to Byta FM Zambia that on 24th February, 2024, the deceased stole three herds of cattle branded T-D-S, all valued at K23, 000, belonging to his wife who had inherited them from her late mother.

At the time of the theft, the animals were being kept by Douglas Siachibila of B. William Farms in Chikoli A, Kalomo.

Daka further notes that on the same day, the deceased also stole a cow branded T-D-S and five goats all valued at K11, 000, also being kept by Siachila but belonging to a Moses Mubiana, 29, who had bought them and used the brand mark for Muninde.

Daka notes that the deceased had ran away from home after learning that he was reported to the Police for two counts of stock theft and he on 2nd March around 07:00 hours and surrendered himself to his wife by telling her to take him to the Police.

On the way from Maclaymond Compound to Kalomo Police Station, the now deceased abruptly threw himself onto the oncoming trailer of a Volvo truck driven by 25-year-old Barnabas Muchiya of Twapya Township in Ndola which was Livingstone bound.

Seamanlike sustained a broken right hand and broken skull and he died on the spot, with Police Officers who rushed to the scene picking up his remains while the truck was allowed to proceed after formalities.
