State House Calls for Peace, Tolerance Ahead of Zambia’s General Election
State House has called on political leaders and Zambians to protect peace and uphold tolerance as the country prepares to go to the polls on Thursday.
In a press release issued by State House, Government said the culture of electoral violence, intimidation and hate speech witnessed in previous elections has been largely rejected by Zambians during the current campaign.
The statement, however, urged political leaders and citizens to remain peaceful during the final hours of the campaign, stressing that every human life is precious and that no political contest or disagreement is worth the loss of life.
It further urged political leaders to take responsibility for their words and actions, emphasising that artificial intelligence cannot be held accountable for statements made in the political arena.
The call comes as Zambia enters the final stage of the electoral campaign, with voters expected to exercise their democratic right to choose their leaders on August 13, 2026.
The message from State House is for all political parties and their supporters to maintain peace, exercise restraint and allow Zambians to make their choices without fear, intimidation or violence.
