South Africa to arrest returning South Africans fighting for Israel in Gaza – Foreign Minister
The South African government has confirmed that citizens who return home after fighting alongside the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza will face arrest and possible prosecution.
Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor says such actions violate domestic law, as joining foreign militaries without state approval is illegal. Naturalised citizens could also lose their nationality.
The warning aligns with South Africa’s strong stance against Israel, including its ongoing genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
