Sometime back, I received a text message in my inbox of a young lady who was so distressed and was at a point of giving up. She contemplated taking doom and giving it to her child.
I usually take such cases seriously, even though some people use it as a trick to get attention, but I would rather be cheated than lose a life if I can help it.
So, I took off you meet this lady and she emotionally told me her story, which basically amounted to lack of finance and failure to look after herself and her 4 years son.
I decided to take the lady in one of the houses I was renting for my political activities. But when we went to pick her things from where she had been evicted, neighbours came around and complained about her behavior and how she ill-treated her son.
“This girl is very bad, she shouts at her child and gives him puritone as she goes out to sleep with men in the night”, they recounted.
I paid attention to what they said, but it did not change my mind about helping her. The lady stayed in that house for sometime until she got a job and I have lost contact.
Many young ladies find themselves very frustrated and bitter when out of their relationships come a child, unexpectedly. Some of these young ladies take it out on their children.
Firstly, we should not judge them, but render as much help as we can for the sake of the child and the ladies themselves, because they are mothers in difficult situations.
Some young mothers look at their children as an impediment to the life that they dreamed of. It is like their dreams are shuttered. Let us give them hope, that they can still make it, along side bringing up that child(ren).
What we have to know is that, a child is a gift from God and no one knows the future about ourselves and the young ones.
Embrace your children, fight for them, help them grow, God will be by your side. If He gave you that child, He will surely come in to help you, keep strong keep the faith.
