The Chipolopolo drew 1-1 with the indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a pre-AFCON friendly match played at the King Abdallah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

Leicester City forward Patson Daka picked up from where he left from in the qualifiers to score a goal for the Chipolopolo after snatching the ball from Moukoudi in the 11th minute but the indomitable Lions responded through Yongwa Ngameni to level matters before the break.

The two sides shuffled their sides in the second half which did not see further goals.

Coach Avram Grant had started with Lawrence Mulenga between the sticks while Tandi Mwape and Zephaniah Phiri played as wingbacks. Stoppilla Sunzu partnered Frankie Musonda with Kelvin Kapumbu and Golden Mafwenta starting in the middle of the park.

Upfront Daka was joined by Edward Chilufya, Rally Bwalya and Fashion Sakala.

The Chipolopolo will now prepare to jet out to Ivory Coast where they will be based in San Pedro.

Zambia’s opening match is against DR Congo on January 17 before facing Tanzania four days later and wind up Group F games on January 24 against Morocco.
