SANAC CHALLENGES GOVT TO ACT DECISIVELY ON ZAMMSA’S FAILURE TO DELIVER 66 AMBULANCES
By Sanfrossa Mberi
The Southern African Network Against Corruption -SANAC- has challenged the government to take appropriate action against the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency-ZAMMSA- for failure to deliver 66 ambulances as per contract stipulation.
SANAC Executive Director Gregory Chifire is concerned with the failure to respect the contract conditions by the supplier.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Chifire has wondered why the contract is being treated special despite clear signs of the terms so far breached.
He says if the ambulances are not delivered and no action is taken against the contractor, it will justify corruption concerns that were raised by individuals and organizations in the procurement process of the ambulances.
Mr. Chifire’s comment follows threats by Health Minister Elijah Muchima to cancel the contract for the supply of 66 ambulances that were supposed to be delivered by the end of December 2024, if ZAMMSA does not justify the delay in securing the equipment.
