RUSSIA TO TRAIN ZAMBIAN MINING ENGINEERS

Zambia’s young engineers from the Copperbelt University and the University of Zambia are set to receive capacity building in mining engineering in Russia.

This follows a new agreement signed between the Subsoil Africa consortium of university and Saint Petersburg mining university in Russia.

The training of CBU and UNZA engineering students is aimed at improving research and mine management.

And Copperbelt University Vice Chancellor PAUL CHISALE said incorporating universities in mining will change the face of the industry in the country.

Meanwhile Zambia Chamber of mines Vice President TALENT NGANDWE said the signed MOU will help improve the mining sector in terms of research and mining operations.

And Subsoil Africa consortium of universities president PAUL OMAJI said the MOU will promote collaboration between mining and university.

And Saint Petersburg rector and chairperson of UNESCO said broadening training of mining engineers in various universities will ensure mining countries benefit from its minerals.
