Resolve trade tensions with DRC, Haabazoka advises gov’t
ECONOMIST Lubinda Haabazoka has called on the Zambian government to quickly resolve the rising trade tension between Zambi and the Democratic Republic of Cong (DRC) by engaging in diplomatic.
Dr Haabazoka has hence advised the Zambian government to instead consider strengthening economic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
Dr. Haabazoka said he had received information government has banned the transit of Congolese mealie meal imported from South Africa through Zambia because some local entities were doing the same.
He said the decision by the Zambian government to close boarders with the DRC had resulted to retaliatory actions from that country who had also banned the importation of Zambian products resulting into protests that has led to the temporal closure of Zambia boarders with DRC.
