The Alliance for Development and Democracy (ADD) President Hon. Charles Milupi has expressed disappointment at the negative remarks uttered by President Hakainde Hichilema on Barotseland. “President Hakainde Hichilema cannot publicly and directly shoot us on the foot after sacrificing alot for him to become president,” Hon. Milupi said.

“I am out of the country now but if truly that’s what he said then it’s unfortunate and regrettable. I have received a numerous calls from home asking for my reaction over the President’s remarks but it’s unfortunate and regrettable, that’s what I can say. As whether or not I should resign if I mean well for Barotseland, that’s a subject for another day,” added Charles Milupi.

President Hakainde Hichilema needed to understand and know that those clapping for him today over such reckless statements hate him with passion and were happy because they are seeing his downfall. One cannot just wake up and disparage the people who sacrificed for him unless such a person was arrogant. “How can he say Barotseland doesn’t exist when it existed even before Zambia was born,” asked Hon. Charles Milupi in a phone interview with the Barotseland Watchdog international reporter.

Hon. Charles Milupi also revealed that when they entered into an alliance with the UPND, specific terms and conditions were made but it appears President Hakainde is not a man of his words. “We never agreed that under New Dawn Government we shall rubbish the issue of Barotseland like the way he has done. However, he has done that at his own peril because the people of Barotseland will never trust him,” concluded Charles Milupi.
