PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA CONFERS WITH THE LABOUR MOVEMENT
He writes…
The labour movement is a key part in our economic program. We are keen to see their members and the mining community, receive the necessary social and economic support in a conducive and safe working environment.
That was the main thrust of our frank and productive discussion at State House this afternoon, with the Presidents of the Mines Labour Unions; Mines Workers’ Union of Zambia (MUZ), National Union of Mines and Allied Workers (NUMAW), as well as the United Mines Workers’ Union of Zambia (UMUZ), represented by Mr. Joseph Sakala, Mr. Saul Simujika and Mr. Wisdom Ngwira respectively.
As a government, we are resolved to ensuring a smooth transition in the mining industry, a critical component in our economic agenda, which has been plagued by various bottlenecks over the years.
We continue to focus on matters of common interest and agreed to work collaboratively to address the challenges faced by their members.
Hakainde Hichiliema,
President of the Republic of Zambia
