POLLING AGENT KILLED IN MATER0 ELECTION-DAY ATTACK, NINE ARRESTED.
A 57-year-old polling agent has died after allegedly being attacked by a group of people at Kasamba Polling Station in Matero, Lusaka.
The incident occurred on polling day, 13th August 2026, and the deceased has been identified as Lovemore Chishima.
Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba says Mr. Chishima was allegedly assaulted by a group of people and later died from his injuries.
Mr. Musamba says nine suspects have since been apprehended in connection with the alleged murder and are currently in police custody as investigations continue
In a separate incident, Mr. Musamba disclosed that police apprehended and detained six male suspects who were allegedly found in possession of offensive weapons.
He adds that police recovered nine machetes, 22 rounds of ammunition and a Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration number BAD 8622.
Mr. Musamba says police are also looking for Mr. Sean Tembo to assist with investigations into the matter.
