POLICE IN LUNDAZI HAVE ARRESTED 10 MALAWIAN NATIONALS FOR UNLAWFUL ENTRY INTO THE COUNTRY

Five among the ten suspects are also facing an offense of stock theft.

The five suspects all of Kashinga village in Kasungu District of Malawi allegedly stole two herds of cattle valued at 17,500 Kwacha from Bina Ngwila aged 27 of Ngalande village in Senior Chief Mwase’s area in Lundazi District.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Limpo Liywalii has confirmed to Breeze FM News.

Brief facts of the matter are that on December 12th 2023, Bina Ngwila left his home to Malawi’s Kasungu district to get his money from his friend only identified as a Mr. Amanda who was owing him 60,000 Malawian Kwacha.

Mr. Liywalii explained that while in Malawi, Mr. Ngwila who used a bicycle as mode of transport to get to Malawi met another friend who decided to lend him his motorbike to use whilst in that country.

He stated that after collecting money from a Mr. Amanda, Mr. Ngwila took back his friend’s motorbike, picked his bicycle and came back to his village in Mwase area.

Mr. Liywalii added that the following morning on December 13th at around 05 hours, Mr. Ngwila’s Malawian friend accompanied by two others went to inform him that the motorbike he had borrowed from him was stolen by thieves who broke into his house.

They later started searching Mr. Ngwila’s house but that their search was unsuccessful and that they left for Malawi.

On the material day around 24 hours, another team of five Malawians lead by Peter Kanyinji went back to Mr. Ngwila’s house to arrest him so that they can take him to Malawi but that he refused.

They later decided to take the victim’s two oxen and that on the 17th December around 11 hours, 10 people crossed into Zambia with a view of collecting Mr. Ngwila’s remaining two oxen and an oxcart but that they were arrested for unlawful entry into the country with the other five others facing another offense of stock theft.

The suspects are expected to appear in court.
