PF Electoral Participation and Internal Dynamics

Press Statement

PF Electoral Participation and Internal Dynamics

The Patriotic Front’s current leadership posture presents a structural obstacle to its own electoral participation. The party’s approach toward the state and the electoral administration, marked by political naivety, has contributed to a series of legal and administrative disputes that have resulted in restrictions on its ability to field candidates. As a consequence, no known PF leader is currently positioned to appear on the ballot in the near term.

Compounding this, reports within the party point to the presence of multiple operatives alleged to be acting on behalf of external interests. According to these accounts, such individuals have been tasked with creating statutory disruptions that have produced unprecedented internal confusion and sustained conflict between segments of the leadership.

Within this context, individuals associated with or considering engagement with the party have indicated an awareness of potential retaliatory actions, including political persecution and targeted reprisals, should the balance of power shift again.

This situation underscores how internal party behavior, external interference, and strategic positioning in relation to political opponents can directly constrain organizational viability and influence individual risk calculations within Zambia’s competitive political environment.

We therefore call upon all Zambians, including PF members and supporters, to join an all-inclusive Peoples Pact designed to usher in a Government of National Unity. This pact seeks to put an end to political corruption and uncouth, personalized governance, and to restore politics focused on national interest and public service.
