Patson Daka Hails “Amazing” Malawi Tournament As Zambia Gear Up For World Cup Qualifiers

DAKA HAILS “AMAZING” MALAWI TOURNAMENT AS ZAMBIA GEAR UP FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

Patson Daka praised the organization of the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi, calling it “an amazing tournament” after Zambia secured third place with a 2-1 win over the hosts on Tuesday.

Daka, who scored in the victory, spoke to the media after the game, commending the Malawian FA: “It’s been an amazing tournament. Big thanks to the Football Association of Malawi, our stay has been great, people have been lovely to us.”

Zambia drew their opening match 2-2 against Zimbabwe before losing on penalties. However, they maintained their scoring form with two goals against Malawi in their final match.

With no friendlies scheduled before their crucial World Cup qualifiers in June, Daka believes the Malawi tournament was vital for the team’s assessment. “It’s the tournament that we all wanted…as players to see what we need to work on because we have bigger assignments ahead of us,” he said. “So it was important to make sure that each one of us gauged themselves, where they are and what we need to improve on.”

Coach Avram Grant will be hoping his team can carry their momentum into June’s qualifiers against Morocco and Tanzania. Zambia showed promising signs of improvement in their win over Malawi, and Daka’s comments suggest the team is well prepared for the challenges ahead.
