PASTOR JAILED 20 YEARS FOR SEDATING AND MOLESTING 15 YEAR OLD GIRL DURING PRAYERS
A PASTOR of Lundazi has been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for sedating a 15-year-old girl before touching her private parts during a prayer session to exorcise demons from her.
When passing the sentence, Lusaka-based High Court Judge Dancewell Bowa regretted that the 37-year-old convict, John Chiluba, of Chimutyulu Township, betrayed the trust of the victim.
“It is sad that people like the convict could abuse people’s trust owing to the position that they hold in society,” the judge said.
Chiluba, an ex-convict, was charged with indecent assault on a child, committed on August 18, 2022.
In 2017, the same cleric was convicted and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour but escaped from a penitentiary, only to commit a similar offence.
At trial, the victim narrated that on the material day, Chiluba and his friend, only identified as Mr Chipyola, went to her mother’s house around 05:00 hours.
