NYIMBA POLICE PICK UP DRIVER OF BURNT FUEL TANKER AS PROBE IN POSSIBLE ARSŌN CASE GATHERS MOMENTUM

Police in Nyimba District, Eastern Province have detained the driver of a fuel tanker which was gutted in Kacholola area along Great East Road that was laden with 44,000 litres of petrol worth K1.4m.

Eastern Province Police Commanding officer LIMPO LIYWALII says police are investigating a case of arson and that the driver has been picked to help with investigations.

Mr LIYWALII says police suspect that the tanker was allegedly set on fire after stealing the fuel.

The incident occurred around 13 hours on Tuesday and it involves a fuel tanker truck registration number BCF 8622 and BCC 3176T belonging to Khalif Motors.
