NEWS UPDATE: NRPUP, ALLIANCE DELEGATION DEPLOYS TO DUBAI FOR BALLOT PRINTING OVERSIGHT
Four members of the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance have travelled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to observe the ballot paper printing exercise ahead of the forthcoming general elections, in a move the party says is aimed at strengthening transparency in the electoral process.
The delegation includes Presidential Spokesperson Hon. George Chisanga, SC, EFF President Kasonde Mwenda, Fourth Revolution Party President Roosevelt Tonga, and Professor Nkandu Luo. Three members departed on Sunday evening, while Hon. Chisanga is expected to join the team tomorrow morning after attending to a presidential assignment.
The delegation says it will monitor the printing process to ensure openness and credibility, emphasizing that elections are not a single event but a chain of processes that must all meet standards of integrity, including ballot production.
The team is expected to remain in the United Arab Emirates for the duration of the exercise and will provide periodic updates.
This is according to Elias Kamanga, Chairperson for Information and Publicity at NRPUP, in a statement issued on 30 June 2026.
Last week during a stakeholders engagement of the 14 presidential aspirants, ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis informed the candidates and political parties that each was free to appoint a representative to observe the ballot printing process.
She further clarified that all costs for such representatives will be borne by the respective parties or candidates.
