NO GMO WILL BE OFFLOADED ON ZAMBIAN MARKET – LUFUMA
DEFENSE Minister Ambrose Lufuma has disclosed that Government will prioritize the welfare of the Zambian people by ensuring that no genetically modified organisms-GMO mealie meal is offloaded on the Zambia market.
Addressing the Media on Thursday afternoon after a tour of the Kazungula Border, Lufuma noted that Government has put up strict measures to ensure that no imported mealie meal gets to the Zambian boarders.
Meanwhile, Millers Association of Zambia-MAZ President Andrew Chintala dispelled allegations that the Zambia National Service is producing GMO mealie meal.
Chantila further revealed that Millers are actively engaged and the mealie meal imported from South Africa is in transit to the Democratic Republic of Congo and monitored by various institutions to ensure it does not touch the Zambia market.
Speaking at the same event, Minister of Information and Media Cornelius Mweetwa warned those peddling false information about the ZNS mealie meal to desist from misleading the nation.
