NGWIRA WITHDRAWS FROM CHASEFU RACE, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR MUNDUBILE

TONSE Alliance Chairperson for Labour and Social Services, Frackson Chanoda Ngwira, has announced his decision to step aside from his political ambitions in Chasefu, citing challenges surrounding the adoption process and a need for personal reflection.

In a statement addressed to his supporters, Mr Ngwira thanked family, friends and political allies who had stood by him throughout his political journey, particularly those who supported his aspirations in Chasefu.

He said that despite successfully navigating the adoption process, opposition against his candidature had been stronger than he had initially anticipated, prompting him to abandon the fight for now.

“I did everything possible but I have decided to let it go for now. The spirited fight against me was way bigger than I thought,” Mr Ngwira said.

He paid special tribute to Dr Chris Zumani Zimba and others who supported him during the adoption process, describing Dr Zimba’s actions as a demonstration of brotherhood and the spirit of umuntu despite their past differences.

Mr Ngwira acknowledged that some of his supporters would be disappointed by his decision, noting that it mirrored a similar step he took in the past.

However, he said the move followed deep reflection and did not diminish his long-term aspirations for the constituency.

He stressed that his vision for Chasefu remained unchanged and thanked residents who had overwhelmingly supported him and hoped to see his name on the ballot paper.

Mr Ngwira apologised to his supporters for not contesting and urged them to participate in the August 13 elections by supporting Tonse Alliance presidential candidate Brian Muntayalwa Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu.

“Please turn up in numbers on August 13 and cast your vote for President Brian Muntayalwa Mundubile and his running mate, Hon Makebi Zulu,” he said.

He further reaffirmed his loyalty to Mr Mundubile, stating that he would continue supporting the Tonse Alliance leader despite the circumstances that had led to his withdrawal from the race.

Mr Ngwira expressed gratitude to all those who had believed in him and pledged to remain committed to the broader political vision he holds for Chasefu.
