NALUMANGO SHOULD SHUT UP IF SHE HAS NOTHING TO SAY
By Hope Moonga
Good morning, Vice President W.K Mutale Nalumango
With all due respect maybe it is time you just shut up because it is clear you have nothing to say.
When you stand there and declare that “Zambia cannot be handed over to a group of failures,” are you actually saying that President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) should just stop campaigning right now, because he himself is the biggest failure this country has seen in recent memory?
Let us be honest, Madam Vice President.
The only real “achievements” your UPND ticket has delivered in four years and nine months are:
• Shrinking democracy, gagging the media, weaponising state institutions against critics, and turning Zambia into a place where people are afraid to speak their minds.
• Skyrocketing cost of living, ordinary Zambians crushed by fuel prices, mealie-meal prices, electricity tariffs and rent, while your pro-rich policies protect the elite.
• Pure incompetence, debt restructuring that still leaves us suffocating, youth unemployment still rampant, and an economy that feels like it’s recovering only on paper and in your campaign speeches.
• Total failure to manage farmers’ welfare. Smallholder farmers, who are the backbone of our rural economy, were left exposed and devastated by the highest farming input prices and the longest delay in getting payment delivered produce. Even now farmers have been left at the mercy of the vultures; the milers who are buying maize cheaply, and farmers still struggling to get fair prices and timely support while you chase headline “bumper harvest” numbers that ordinary growers never feel in their pockets.
• let us not forget the electricity crisis that crippled businesses and households for years. Zambians endured up to 20 hours of load-shedding daily because of poor planning at Kariba and ZESCO. Industries shut down, jobs were lost, families suffered in darkness. Now, suddenly, since December 2025, power has “miraculously” improved, more than 10 hours a day, almost uninterrupted in some areas. Coincidence? Or a temporary election-fix to buy votes ahead of August 2026? Zambians are not blind
• Complete failure to manage fuel prices. When you took over, petrol was around K17–K18 per litre. Today it’s K27–K32 and still climbing because you failed to listen when you were advised about Indeni and the Tazama pipeline. The result? Transport costs exploded, food became unaffordable, businesses collapsed. Now, months before the election, you’re rushing back to temporary tax suspensions and emergency subsidies, the very same subsidies you scrapped as “unsustainable.” Pure election gimmickry.
Zambians remember where we came from under the previous regime, but they also remember the heaven you promised and the hardship you delivered.
Zambians remember the lies that HH has told and keeps telling.
You say “the work goes on” and “a new era has come.” Madam, the only new era ordinary Zambians are experiencing is the era of hardship, hunger, darkness and broken promises.
So tell us clearly, Honourable Nalumango:
If the opposition is a “group of failures,” then what exactly does that make the man you’re begging Zambians to re-elect? Because from where the suffering majority stand, HH is the poster child of failure, and you are his loudest cheerleader.
Zambians are not fools. They will decide in 2026 whether to continue this suffering or choose a different path.
The floor is yours, Madam Vice President.
Defend the record with intelligent statememts, if you can.
