MY REACTION TO MADAM VICE PRESIDENT MUTALE NALUMANGO’S HOT FM REMARKS ON THE COST OF LIVING
Speaking when she appeared on Hot FM this morning, Madam Vice President Mutale Nalumango said the cost of living may be high, but it is not the creation of the current government because Zambians lived an artificial life under the PF.
Madam Vice President, that statement may explain part of the past, however, it does not answer the pain people are feeling today.
Yes, Zambia inherited serious economic challenges. Yes, there was unsustainable borrowing. Yes, some of the comfort people experienced before may have been built on fragile foundations. That part must be acknowledged honestly.
However, leadership cannot remain permanently in yesterday’s explanation while citizens are struggling today.
The cost of living is not just a political talking point. It is the mother reducing meals at home. It is the young person without work. It is the civil servant whose salary finishes before month end. It is the farmer facing high input costs. It is the small business owner battling fuel, electricity and rent. It is the patient choosing between transport to the clinic and food for the family.
After nearly five years in office, Zambians deserve more than being told who created the problem. They deserve to be shown who is solving it.
A government may inherit a crisis, however, it is elected to manage it, reduce it and eventually overcome it. That is the responsibility of leadership.
The people are not asking for perfection. They are asking for visible relief, honest timelines, clear direction and practical answers on food prices, fuel, electricity, wages, jobs and household survival.
BLAMING THE PAST MAY EXPLAIN HOW THE FIRE STARTED, BUT IT CANNOT BE THE STRATEGY FOR PUTTING IT OUT.
The question now is not only who created the cost of living crisis. The question is: who is reducing it, and when will ordinary Zambians begin to feel the difference? https://zambianwhistleblower.com/
