MWALE PUNCHES HIS WAY TO MEDAL AS ZAMBIA MAKES BOXING HISTORY AT AFRICAN GAMES

Zambian boxer Mwengo Mwale has secured his place on the podium at the ongoing African Games after a dominant performance against Mathe Seholoholo of Lesotho. Mwale emerged victorious via a unanimous points decision, adding another medal to Zambia’s growing tally.

Zambia’s boxing team at the Accra 2023 African Games consists of ten boxers, of which Albert Ngulube, Andrew Chilata, Patrick Chinyemba, and Margret Tembo are already in the medal brackets with an addition of Mwengo Mwale.

Meanwhile Stephen Zimba, Nene Maonga, and Jonathan Mwiinga have been eliminated from the competition.

More remarkably, Zambia has etched its name in the African Games’ history books. For the first time ever, the nation boasts five boxers reaching the semifinals of the competition.

With Mwale guaranteed a medal and five boxers vying for a spot in the finals, Zambia is poised for a historic showing at the African Games. All eyes will be on the remaining Zambian boxers as they continue their quest for glory.
