Opposition leaders Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu have reportedly been slapped with treason charges and detained at Lusaka Central Police Station.
According to information reaching Zambian Watch News, the two were issued with Warn and Caution Statements following hours of interrogation by the police.
Mundubile, the NRPUP presidential candidate, and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, were subsequently taken to Lusaka Central Police, where they are being detained.
The duo are being represented by a high-profile legal team comprising Sakwiba Sikota SC, Chifumu Banda SC and Bonaventure Mutale SC.
The development comes after the two were handed over to authorities following engagements involving the eight Church Mother Bodies.
