We believe in a free, fair and transparent election for all.
However, we are concerned about the organisation and conduct of some of the people surrounding Brian Mundubile, particularly those representing him at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
Truth be told, Brian Mundubile has outperformed the expectations of many people in these elections. That performance deserves a serious, disciplined and mature team capable of protecting his interests professionally.
Now, let us talk about the selection of people representing him at Mulungushi.
Kasonde Mwenda, Celestine Mambula Mukandila and Enock Tonga should not be turning such a critical national process into an opportunity to imitate Gary Nkombo’s confrontational style or seek personal recognition.
The question is simple: Why didn’t Brian Mundubile send sober, experienced and constructive people such as Chris Zumani Zimba, Isaac Nsoneka and others who can engage firmly but respectfully to protect the interests of the party and its presidential candidate?
These are the kinds of mistakes that political leaders must avoid.
You cannot send boys to wrestle for power when the moment demands men of experience, discipline and maturity.
There is still time to change course.
Brian Mundubile needs representatives who can scrutinise the process, challenge irregularities, defend every vote and engage the Electoral Commission of Zambia in a sober and constructive manner.
Politics is not about who can make the most noise in a conference hall. It is about strategy, evidence, discipline and knowing when to speak and when to listen.
If the NRPUP believes it has a legitimate case to make, then it must present that case with dignity and professionalism.
Mundubile has come this far. He should not allow poor representation to undermine what he has achieved.
Change the team. Send sober and mature people to Mulungushi.
Even if you lose, lose with dignity.
