MP MUNIR ZULU, ACTIVIST CHANGALA ARRESTED
LUMEZI Lawmaker, Munir Zulu and, Political Commentator, Brebnar Changala, have been arrested by Police on two separate charges following comments they uttered during the disappearance of Petauke Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Banda.
Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, confirms that Zulu has been detained for an alleged offence of hate speech where he is deemed to incite division among various groups in society.
Hamoonga adds that Changala has been detained for the alleged offence of seditious practices where he is said to have engaged in activities intended to incite rebellion against the authority of the state.
He explains that seditious practices pose a significant threat to national security and public order.
During a Press Briefing by some opposition Members of Parliament who were demanding the return of Banda, Zulu uttered that if the ruling party does not allow competitors in Southern Province, they too are not welcome in other parts of the country.
And in a separate interview, Changala is heard accusing the current administration of sponsoring state criminals, which he said could amount to and result in State Terrorism and Anarchy.
