MAZABUKA MAN SEEKS DIVORCE OVER WIFE’S ALLEGED INFIDELITY, NEGLECT

A 34-year-old man of Mazabuka District has filed for divorce from his 13-year partner, citing her alleged extramarital child and preference for business over their household, which has led to escalating conflicts.

Byta FM’s Court Beat Journalist reports that Simon Mwachilenga has brought a case against Misozi Mate, 33, whom he accuses of threatening his life when questioned about the paternity of her child.

Mwachilenga’s suspicions were aroused when an unknown man claimed paternity of their 1-year-old during a phone call.

He recounted to the court that their marital issues began in 2021 when Mate started her business ventures in Nkonkola and began spending less time at home.

In response, Mate defended herself by alleging that Mwachilenga neglects her and their two children, particularly when he is financially stable.

She recounted an instance when a pastor provided shelter to Mwachilenga after he left their home and mentioned that he forbids her from joining him at church services.

Mate, further, accused her husband of infidelity, as he refuses to eat the meals she prepares.

The Local Court is expected to deliver its judgment on the case today, 15th May 2024.
