Manchester United’s assistant coach Eric Ramsay named new Minnesota coach – Reports

Eric Ramsay, assistant coach at Manchester United, has signed a contract to take over as coach of MLS side Minnesota United, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Minnesota United had been without a permanent manager since parting ways with Adrian Heath last October, just two games before the end of the 2023 regular season, resulting in their failure to qualify for the postseason.

Following Heath’s departure, the team employed two interim managers, first Sean McCauley, and then Cameron Knowles.

Knowles will continue in his role as interim manager when Minnesota United kick off their season this Saturday against Austin FC.

At 32 years old, Ramsay will become the youngest full-time managerial appointment in MLS history, surpassing current Houston Dynamo manager Ben Olsen, who was 33 when he was appointed by D.C. United in November 2010, initially serving as interim manager before being appointed permanently.
