…as he pledges continued support to youths
January 7th, 2024
When majority of people are complaining of the pressure that comes with the month of January, young people in Lusaka Central have a different story to tell as they have on Sunday been gifted with a cash donation aimed at empowering their livelihoods courtesy of area Member of Parliament Mulambo Haimbe.
Speaking shortly before handing over the cash to the youth leadership of Lusaka Central, Haimbe said the gesture is an effort to uplift the living standards of youths in the constituency as part of his developmental agenda.
The cash donation is part of his K300,000 pledge made recently and he has since promised to finish the balance by June 2024.
“This is a revolving fund for our young people in the four wards of Lusaka Central constituency as a way of empowering them with the little we have.
I am hereby encouraging our youths in business to use this money wisely because the idea is to see everyone doing something for themselves as my office does it’s part in ensuring that we promote Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Lusaka Central, Haimbe said.
The lawmaker who is also Justice Minister added that youths were on the center of development of the constituency, saying his support is unending.
And speaking at the same event, Lusaka Central Youth chairperson Michael Tembo called for the prudent use of the money.
“This is very encouraging as everyone will be seen to be doing something and we want all the projects under this fund to be within Lusaka Central,” he said.
Tembo said the youth leadership will ensure that there is supervision of projects to avoid any abuse or misuse of the donated funds.
Meanwhile Kabulonga ward youth chairperson Arnold Daka has commended the MP for what he termed as a timely gesture, saying the donation will go a long way in helping the grassroots in the constituency.
