Lungu warns civil servants

FORMER president Edgar Lungu has warned that on his return to presidency in 2026, those in the civil service who are doing “ifyabupuba” will be followed in their houses and sorted out.

Speaking during a rally held by Citizens first in Samfya yesterday, Lungu said those who will be fired for being refractory to their superiors will be rewarded when he retains authority in 2026.

“have no fear… we have suffered enough. Police officers as you receive instructions and orders, think through and do the right thing,” he said

“When you do the right thing and you are fired, 2026 you will come back. If you are doing the right thing as a civil servant, as a police officer and you get fired 2026 you will come back probably even on promotion.”

Lungu threatened to take on any civil servant or police officer that will comply with orders regarding the handling of opposition leaders that he will hunt them and strike.

“But if you do foolish things I will come for you. I will come for you as an individual in your own house and sort you out,”said Lungu.

“This is not a fake promise, this is not a threat, this is the truth. We will follow you individually until we deal with you because you are doing wrong things. But if you are doing the right things you will be rewarded. Hear that very clearly.”
