Last week I was at Upnd Anderson Kambela mazoka House the new Upnd Secretariat in mulondwe close.
As I was standing waiting to be ushered in the office Secretary General Admin officer My tribal Cousin Liswaniso appeared on the corridor of upnd offices.
I greeted him Cousin how are you doing.
Liswaniso_ Am fine just pressure mbuya.
He held my hand and walked out with a trouse without a belt as usual.
From nowhere Youths also appeared on the corridor looking for Liswaniso.
The youths started shouting and lamenting saying
Ba cheya cheya cheya iwe cheya mwatulekesha inchito tatule bomba If we ninshi.
Liswaniso _what do you mean he questioned the youths.
Youths _Ba cheya mwatulekesha kwena balya boss she is not paying us well and we are not on permanent job help us.
Liswaniso ohooo Give me her line thus a simple Job imwe bana .
The youths shared the number and Liswaniso called the boss of that company simple and humble voice .
Hello madam how are you this is Gilbert Liswaniso Upnd youth national cheya.
The phone was on loud speaker reason are that he wanted the youths to hear the conversation.
Sure madam why can’t you help the youths for a job when I personally requested you sure so apa bafana are on me accusing me of not helping them , these are the generation which can take the country forward ⏩⏩ madam.Am with 10 youths madam they are complaining bitterly ,”said Liswaniso.
Madam: Ohooo thank you ba cheya for calling actually it’s not like that we want to employ them one by one at least we accommodate few now then next again we employ some we understand you are going through ma cheya we are together ,”said the unknown madam.
Mr Liswaniso again went on to lobby for the audience on behalf of youths.
Liswaniso: Madam please the nation is looking up to me on many issues affecting the youths be it in funeral schools fees most of our youths are not educated so we want to create jobs of that nature madam napapata ,” said cheya Liswaniso.
I saw him on his face that he really wanted to help he down knelt down and all his youths were quiet listening.
Madam: Ba cheya thank you for the call it’s really a good thing to speak to you such a humble and interactive man.
Mr Liswaniso assured the youths that the manager will handle their issue.
There was jubilation among the vulnerable youths who were crying to cheya Liswaniso.
He told the youths that President Hakainde Hichilema loves the youths it’s only that some permanent secretaries don’t want to share the opportunities in many ministries and it breaks his heart that people we were suffering together have decided to change and go mute on the youths.
He gave an example saying look at that Jubilee Malambo my son there standing he is still on the street but I like him because he is a cool son of mine very soon he will also be employed the Tonga minds has infiltrated him too much ,”Jokingly said Liswaniso.
Let’s not scandalise our leaders or ministers as youths let’s be responsible youths ,”he advised the youths.
Lesson learnt.
As for Liswaniso one thing I liked about him is to be transparent and honest by attending to issues as they are.
In my journalism career I have never covered Liswaniso in any news article because I was stationed in luapula province where he was just passing.
The lozi man I think he means well in that position as National Youth Chair.
Am writing this article not that I want favour from him but putting the reality of the matter in real contexts.
Liswaniso is a person who will attend you no matter how busy he is he will stop and listen he might delay to help but where I have seen people queing at north mead offices.
