Kalulushi Results Announcement Paused Over Disputed Figures

🇿🇲 BRIEFING | Kalulushi Results Announcement Paused Over Disputed Figures

The announcement of election results in Kalulushi on the Copperbelt has been temporarily suspended after stakeholders questioned discrepancies in some figures being presented.

District Returning Officer Dr Joseph Longwani said election staff had worked through Thursday and overnight, which may have affected concentration during compilation and entry of results. Officials will now verify and reconcile the disputed figures before announcements resume.

The development comes as unverified polling-station results circulating from across the Copperbelt suggest a developing urban-rural split. Returns seen so far from several urban polling stations appear to favour the TONSE-backed opposition candidate Brian Mundubile, while results emerging from rural parts of the province appear stronger for President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND.

These remain partial and unverified results and cannot establish the final Copperbelt outcome. The People’s Brief will rely on verified constituency totals and official ECZ declarations as collation continue.
