JAMES NDAMBO BLOCKED FROM COMING HOME
System Apprehension Forces Sudden Cancellation of Choma Visit
LUSAKA – Saturday, April 12, 2025 | The FOX Newspaper
In a development that has raised eyebrows across the nation, renowned Zambian philanthropist and businessman James Ndambo has been denied entry into his own country, forcing him to cancel his highly anticipated trip to Southern Province.
In a statement released by Friends of James Ndambo – Zambia Chapter, the group announced that Mr. Ndambo’s visit — scheduled for April 18, 2025, where he was invited as guest of honor at a New Apostolic Church music festival in Choma — will no longer take place. The reason? What they called “denied access and system apprehension.”
“This decision stems from denied access and system apprehension for Mr. Ndambo which was beyond his control,” explained group member Brian Hapunda
According to Hapunda, the block did not originate from the Head of State, but rather from within security structures — particularly the Zambia Police Service. The vague phrase “system apprehension” is being interpreted by many as internal security resistance or possibly bureaucratic sabotage based on fear, suspicion, or politics.
Hapunda was quick to defend Mr. Ndambo’s reputation, reminding the public that the businessman has consistently maintained no political ambitions and no hidden agendas. His work, he said, speaks for itself — stretching back to 1993 when he helped New Apostolic Church members travel to Israel and Egypt for faith engagements.
“Mr. Ndambo has truthfully and honestly repeatedly mentioned to the nation that he harbors no hidden agenda for Zambia, nor does he harbor any political ambitions to warrant a system apprehension,” said Hapunda.
Despite being miles away, Mr. Ndambo reportedly shared in the disappointment of thousands who were looking forward to his presence. His team has since apologized to the New Apostolic Church and to the Zambian people for the inconvenience and distress caused by the abrupt cancellation.
James Ndambo is not a stranger to the spotlight. Known for his generous community work, including women empowerment initiatives, scholarships, and support for rural development, Ndambo has become a household name not because of politics — but because of impact.
However, in recent years, his rising influence seems to have triggered anxiety within certain circles. With no official charges, no known threats, and no political campaigns in his name, his latest denial of entry raises an uncomfortable question:
Is it now dangerous to be too generous in Zambia?
This incident reveals something deeper about the state of openness in Zambia. When a man like Ndambo — who gives without demanding office, and supports communities without rallying for votes — is treated as a threat, many are left to wonder if we are really safe.
For now, the people of Choma will carry on with the music festival — but the silence left behind by James Ndambo’s absence will surely echo louder than the songs.
