INVESTIGATIVE AGENCIES ARE GAINING GROUND ON FUGITIVE JAY JAY BANDA – MWEETWA
LUSAKA – The government has reported progress in the search for Emmanuel Banda, the Petauke Central Member of Parliament who has been evading capture.
Speaking during the press briefing this afternoon Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa announced that security agencies are making headway in their efforts to locate Banda.
Mweetwa revealed that investigations have uncovered evidence indicating Banda did not escape alone.
The Chief Spokesperson confirmed that Banda received external assistance during his flight from justice.
In addition, Mweetwa addressed concerns regarding Banda’s wife, clarifying that she has not been arrested but was merely interrogated, as she was present at the scene of the incident.
“The revelation underscores that Banda’s escape was not a solitary act but involved support from others.” Said Mweetwa.
Mweetwa re-assured the public that investigative agencies are working diligently to track down Banda and ensure he faces justice.
“The government remains committed to resolving the case with transparency.” He added
The Minister charged that authorities are focused on capturing Banda and bringing him to justice, aiming to keep the public informed of any significant developments.
