I’m struggling with Aviator gambling; just lost rental and food money, please help me — youth
A 23-YEAR-OLD youth living in North Western Province has opened up about an addiction that has robbed him of his happiness over the past three years.
Moses Tembo, 23, tells TV Yatu that his desire to improve his financial situation and solve life’s challenges instead pushed him into gambling, leaving him trapped in debt and feeling as though there may be no way back.
Tembo says an attempt to multiply K5,490 early this morning ended in heartbreak after he lost every ngwee to the game.
The young man has chosen to share his story publicly in the hope that it will encourage other youths battling gambling addiction to turn away from the vice before it is too late.
Speaking through an emotional appeal, Tembo says this is the first time he has opened up to anyone about his battle with gambling.
He says he had been hiding the addiction for a long time but could no longer remain silent after losing money that had been set aside for his rent, food and medical bills.
Tembo says the loss has left his bank account empty, and he does not know how he will survive the coming days.
“I have been struggling with Aviator gambling, and today I lost K5,490. This is not the first time this has happened, and I can no longer keep it to myself,” he says.
He adds: “The hardest part is that this money was meant for my rent, food and medical bills. I have nothing left in my account, and I honestly don’t know how I’m going to get through the coming days.”
Tembo says he deeply regrets the mistakes he has made and is appealing for help, not only financially from those who are willing and able to assist, but also through prayers, encouragement and emotional support as he works to overcome his gambling addiction and rebuild his life.
He further appeals to members of the public not to judge him, saying he is genuinely determined to change and hopes his story will inspire others silently battling gambling addiction to seek help before it is too late.
“Any support, no matter how small, will mean more than words can express. Thank you to everyone who chooses to stand with me during this difficult time,” says Tembo.
