‘I COULD PUT A BULLET IN YOU NOW’: ZIMBABWEAN BUSINESSMAN IDENTIFIED IN VIRAL RESTAURANT VIDEO
The wealthy Zimbabwean businessman filmed allegedly threatening women with being shot at a Johannesburg restaurant has been identified as Lawrence Chamurwa Mudzinganyama.
The footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows a man involved in a heated confrontation with women at VLAMO Restaurant at Sandton Gate.
South Africa’s Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster identified the man as Mudzinganyama, a Zimbabwean national, and urged the women involved to come forward and open criminal cases. Authorities also indicated that the incident could trigger a review of his firearm licence.
Mudzinganyama is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Moriel Infrastructure Group, an infrastructure and road construction business operating in South Africa. The company’s own website identifies him as its founder and executive chairman
His company has also been awarded a SANRAL contract valued at R71.55 million for training and construction management linked to the N2 national route in the Eastern Cape. Tender records identify Moriel Infrastructure Group as the successful bidder and Mudzinganyama as the contact person.
The viral footage has sparked widespread reaction, with authorities calling on the women seen in the videos to report the matter so that criminal proceedings can be considered.
The incident took place in Sandton, Johannesburg.
