HON KAMPYONGO CONFIDENT OF SCOOPING MAYEMBE WARD SEAT

Shiwang’andu District… Monday January 22, 2023

Shiwang’andu Member of Parliament Hon Stephen Kampyongo says he is confident that the Patriotic Front will scoop tomorrow’s Mayembe ward by-election.

And the former Home Affairs Minister has called for peace and unity during the voting process saying all the leaders in the campaign trail are in good books.

Hon Kampyongo also laughed out at the propaganda by the UPND that he has joined them saying that can never happen.

He says the UPND are desperate and want to drag him in their campaigns but that they will see the results tomorrow after 18hrs.

Addressing PF supporters before closing the campaign period, Hon Kampyongo said the former ruling party has done it’s part campaigning for the candidate Morgan Malama and is confident of coming out victorious.

Meanwhile, Hon Kampyongo and Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu engaged each other and encouraged their supporters to remain peaceful even as they cast their votes tomorrow.

He said genuine PF members understand the assignment at hand and that the former ruling party is headed for a landslide win tomorrow.

“I am your Member of Parliament under the Patriotic Front and I will remain here even after this whole process. The same way you have seen me here talking to my colleague Hon Nkandu is the same way we talk to each other at Parliament as we always engage with each other. Hon Nkandu is the Member of Parliament for Kaputa in Luapula Province and he is the sports Minister, and if us your leaders engage each other, what should cause you to fight,” he questioned.

“We only have one country and we should guard it jealously. As you can see here, we also have leaders for Socialist Party. This is how it is supposed to be.” We are one people gathered here.”

And Hon Nkandu encouraged the people not to fight, insult or engage in any negative vices.

Speaking earlier, Socialist Party Presidential Advisor on Traditional Affairs Andrew Kapasa Makasa emphasized on the need to coexist even after the by-election.

Campaigns have since closed ahead of tomorrow’s Mayembe ward by-election.

The by-election was necessitated following the resignation of the ward Councillor after he was offered a job in the military.
