There has however been no assembly to the Zambian Eye knowledge that has come up with this resolution. The constitution amendments before have has some sort of groupings and certain prominent clauses highlighted.

This time other than the increasing of the number of constituencies that would increase the public expenditure and benefit the politicians, there is no other prominent or part of the constitution that need to be urgently amended.

Anyway below is what President Hichilema posted about the International Women’s Day celebrations:

We were deeply honored to officiate at the International Women’s Day commemoration in Kasama, Northern Province, and are grateful for the warm welcome from our people and His Majesty Chitimukulu Kanyanta-Manga II.

This year’s theme, “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment,” reaffirms our government’s unwavering commitment to creating transformative progress that ensures equal rights, opportunities, and empowerment for every Zambian woman and girl. For us, gender equality is not up for debate, it is a settled matter. The commitment to employing and elevating more women will not only continue but intensify.

Guided by the Beijing Declaration, we have made notable strides in expanding access to education for girls through free education, increasing women’s participation in the workforce, and strengthening female representation in leadership.

However, significant gaps remain. To break the barriers that hinder progress, we must embrace constitutional amendments that enable proportional representation in parliament. This will remove systemic bottlenecks and accelerate the full empowerment of women and girls across the country.

Together, we will continue advancing a Zambia where every woman and girl can rise, thrive, and lead. Their success is our nation’s success.

Hakainde Hichilema,
President of the Republic of Zambia.
