HICHILEMA IN PANIC MODE, SENDS NELLY MUTTI, MILUPI AND OTHERS TO MEET THE BRE OVER BAROTSELAND
PRESSURE is mounting on President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government over the standoff between his administration and the Lozi people of Mongu who are now demanding for succession.
This has forced President Hichilema to send Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti and some Members of Parliament from Western Province to seek peace with the Litunga Imwiko and his people.
As the standoff continues between the Barotseland Royal Establishment (BRE) and President Hichilema’s office, the UPND is making frantic efforts to patch up a strained relationship.
According to close sources to the development, President Hichilema has assigned Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, Charles Milupi and Nelly Mutti to lead a team of MPs and other senior dignitaries that hail from the province today to meet the BRE.
“They want President Hichilema to apologise in person over his remarks. Those remarks has angered Lozis and infact even the delegates who are coming today will walk on vain,” the source said.
The source said infact with the resignation of Clement Wanyae Sinyinda, former Prime Minister of Barotseland from the Teaching Service Commission makes it difficult for PresidentHichilema to break through the Barotseland.
“…a heroes welcome has been planned for him (Sinyinda) on arrival in Mongu today. And this is an affirmation to the demand of Barotseland. Hichilema has pressure and he will have it this way. We feel betrayed and we cannot trust him including the people he is sending to come over today. As I am talking to you, security is high and Barotse activities arw also hyper here,” the source said.
