HH SHOULD ‘TONE DOWN’ UPND CADRES AHEAD OF ELECTIONS, SAYS DU LEADER NJOBVU
Democratic Union President Antony Njobvu has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to rein in UPND cadres accused of perpetrating violence ahead of this year’s elections
Speaking to journalists after attending Pentecost Sunday service at St. Ignatius Parish in Lusaka, Njobvu urged President Hichilema to put an end to violence allegedly carried out by UPND supporters.
He said President Hichilema should be practical in addressing violence allegedly being perpetrated by UPND cadres.
The DU leader called for peaceful campaigns and said no one should be intimidated for belonging to a political party of their choice or for running as an independent.
Njobvu further said his party is ready for campaigns and will give the UPND a good run in the elections.
Meanwhile, DU running mate Miriam Banda also urged women and youth to reject violence.
She said women and youth are often used to perpetrate violence and advised them to reject it “in totality” and instead embrace issue-based campaigns.
The two leaders also received a blessing from the St. Ignatius Parish priest for their journey of serving the nation.
