HARRY VALDEN FINDLAY ARRESTED ACCUSED OF SPONSORING TONSE-PAMODZI ALLIANCE AND EMMANUEL JAY BANDA
Harry Valden Findlay is currently held in police custody, accused of financially supporting Honourable Emmanuel Jay Banda and the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance led by Brian Mundubile.
It is important to note that, under the law, Findlay possesses the right to use his personal funds to support any politician or political party of his choosing.
Political financing is a recognized element of democratic participation, enabling individuals and groups to express their political preferences through lawful contributions.
Comparatively, in the past, the opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema benefitted from sponsorship by various individuals and organizations, who provided financial and logistical support during his campaigns.
Despite this, none of his sponsors faced arrest or legal scrutiny for their involvement.
This raises questions about consistency and equal treatment under the law when it comes to political sponsorship and citizen rights to back political entities
The arrest and detention of Findlay is at odds with the precedent set by previous sponsorship activities within the opposition ranks.
