Government said that it is contemplating on cancelling the Memorandum of understanding MoU with Football Association of Zambia FAZ following stalled works on the Kasama Sports Stadium.
Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu has told Mano Sports in a telephone interview that he is disappointed that rehabilitation works at the Kasama Sports Stadium have delayed despite receiving funds from FIFA.
Mr. Nkandu states that delays to complete works at the stadium does not only affect young players in the District who lack a decent environment for their sporting activities but it also affects the New Dawn Government’s desire to timeliness and efficiency in the delivery of various projects .
The Minister has assured that FAZ will be engaged over the matter and a possible termination of the MoU between FAZ and government is expected.
And a check at construction site, found workers for the construction company engaged to rehabilitate Kasama sports stadium-Nambwa Construction limited.
The workers disclosed to Mano Sports that they have been abandoned on site for almost a month without being paid.
The workers who threatened to also leave the site unmanned if their supervisors fail to show up as they are finding it difficult to fend for themselves have called on government to intervene into the matter .
