GARY NKOMBO, PROVINCIAL MINISTER CHASED FROM MKAIKA PALACE

Following the arrest of Chief Chikwa, the Palace officials st Mkaika have refused Minister of Local Government, Gary Nkombo to meet with Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi of the Chewa speaking people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.

Nkombo accompanied by Provincial Minister, Peter Simon Phiri and other officials were seen stranded outside the palace as they frantically sought wise men that could speak and beg the Kalonga Gawa Undi.

Recently Police, at the instructions of Collins Nzovu, Minister of Green Economy and Environment, arrested Chief Chikwa of the Senga people of Chama.

Earlier Minister of Water Affairs, Mike Mposha led a group of Ministers and DCs that occassioned violence during the Malaila Traditional ceremny where Senior Chief Nsefu of the Chikunda people complained about the disrespect and misbehaviour of UPND cadres who attempted to stop former President, Edgar Lungu from participating in the ceremony.

Nkombo is in Eastern Province to meet Kalonga Gawa Undi of the Chewa people to engage him on the newly created districts in his chiefdom.

Mr. Nkombo says the visit has been pending for some time and he is delighted to finally engage with the royal establishment.

Mr. Nkombo says following the creation of new districts, government has decided to engage the royal establishment on the challenges and successes regarding the establishment of those districts.

The local government minister states that, government wants to ensure that there is benefit to the Zambian citizens with regards the newly created districts.

Parts of newly created Chipangali and Kasenengwa districts fall under Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi.

Meanwhile Mr. Nkombo further mentioned that he is also in the province to see how best government can fast track the operationalization of Chanida border post in Katete district.
