FORMER MURDER CONVICT LYNCHED BY ANGRY MOB AFTER BRUTAL KILLING OF TWO JUVENILES IN SHIWANGANDU

A MENTAL patient of Shiwang’andu has been beaten to death by a mob after he brutally murdered two juveniles five and six yesterday.

Kelvin Mulenga has succumbed to beatings from members of the public after it emerged that he claimed the lives of two boys in a brutal act that involved cutting of private parts.

Until his death, Mulenga who is a former murder convict has been wrecking havoc in his community with is final act being the killing of the boys.

According to police, since his release from prison where he was convicted for the murder of his grandfather, Mulenga has been committing a variety of crimes including injuring animals, where he could cut parts of goats and eat raw meat.

On the day he turned to his victims, Mulenga is reported to have picked the two boys and headed in the direction of Lufile River about 500 meters away from Nkomba Primary School.

Later, he was spotted in a soaked trousers with the whereabouts of the boys unknown.

“Some members of the public then spotted him with a soaked trousers, members of the community became angry with him and demanded to be shown the two boys. When they saw that he was hesitant, they started beating him until he led the crowd to Lufile River,” Police in Muchinga said Paul Achiume.

According to eyewitness accounts, During the search for the boys, it was reported that one juvenile was spotted dead and being carried by running water.

“The body of the said boy was retrieved and was observed with a big laceration on his right limb and bruised back of the head. This annoyed the public even more and started beating the suspect seriously.

“One of the members of the community Barnabas Chiti aged 43 went back to the river and spotted the second body of the minor. After the body was retrieved, it was discovered that he had his penis amputated and a cut on the left arm.

“The suspect was then battered and was later tied up on both his hands and legs with blood all over his face and head. The matter was then reported to Shiwang’andu Police Station,” police said.

The bodies of the two minors were picked and transported to Chinsali General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination while the suspect was picked to be taken to the same Hospital for medication before he was detained, but unfortunately died along the way.
