Five Days of National Mourning for Guy Scott
President Hakainde Hichilema has declared a five‑day period of National Mourning in honour of Former Vice President Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, who passed away on July 15, 2026.
The mourning period runs from Thursday, July 16 to Monday, July 20, 2026, during which flags will fly at half‑mast from 06:00 to 18:00 hours daily.
This is according to a statement issued by Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa.
The burial ceremony will take place on Monday, July 20 at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka, preceded by a State Funeral Church Service at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross at 10:00 hours.
Funeral gatherings for the late Vice President will be held at Belvedere Lodge along Leopards Hill Road in Kabulonga, Lusaka.
