Felix Mutati dismisses rumors of leaving UPND alliance

MOVEMENT for Democratic Change (MDC) president Felix Mutati has firmly denied claims that he is considering leaving the United Party for National Development (UPND) Alliance.

Responding to a recent headline in the Mast newspaper that suggested disunity within the UPND Alliance, Mutati described the allegations as baseless and deserving of contempt.

He reiterated the MDC’s unwavering commitment to the alliance and their shared goal of advancing the interests of the Zambian people.

In a statement to the media, Mutati, who also serves as the Minister of Technology and Science, emphasised the alliance’s unity and praised President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership.

“I want to make it clear that claims pointing to disunity in the UPND Alliance and suggestions that we, as MDC, are contemplating leaving are false, unfounded, and ought to be dismissed with the contempt they deserve,” Mutati stated.

“His Excellency the President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, continues to provide sound leadership, and we are working with him and supporting him all the way to bring change in the lives of our people.”

Mutati also called on media houses to maintain accuracy and factual reporting to foster informed public discourse.

He stressed the importance of responsible journalism in shaping public opinion and supporting the nation’s development agenda.

The UPND Alliance, formed to unite various political parties in pursuit of a common agenda, remains strong, according to Mutati.
